New Concept in Goal Achievement

Believe in yourself

By Kathleen Boucher

Have you ever felt stuck and frustrated when you aren’t sure what goals to work on next? People around you seem to be achieving great things, yet you feel like you’re standing still. Have you ever wondered what your true purpose is and whether you’re using your God-given talents to your best advantage?

Here is a simple writing exercise that may get your creative juices flowing. Grab a pen and paper and get comfortable, then write out the answer to this question:

  • “What do you love to do? You would do it even if you were never paid a cent.”

Next, write out the answer to this question:

  • “What do people tell you that you are really good at?”

Once you have answered these two questions, take a few slow deep breaths, come into the present moment and gaze mindfully at what you’ve written. Using your intuition, summarize what you have written in two sentences. In other words, condense the two paragraphs that you have written down.

For example, the condensed version of what I wrote to this question, “What do you love to do?” is:

  • I love to empower and motivate people to follow their dreams.

The condensed version of what I wrote to this question, “What do people tell you that you are really good at?” is:

  • People tell me that I am really good at inspiring and motivating people to overcome procrastination.

When I combine the two sentences to reveal my purpose, it looks like this.

  • My purpose is to help empower, motivate, and inspire people to follow their dreams: by helping them to overcome procrastination.

See how easy it is to do? If you are still feeling stuck you could work backwards. Sit down with your best friend and ask them what they would say about you at your eulogy. It may surprise you in a good way… or not. What do you want people to remember you for? Make a list of all the obstacles standing in the way of you leaving an incredible legacy and plow through them one by one! Remember, you are amazing!
